Hello readers,
Todays post is about a local festival called the "Festa Major" which is the most important festival of the various towns that host them all on different dates.
It all started out in the XIII century when most of the towns choose certain religious dates on which it is mainly based. They generally last 3 days so the local children have a day of school in which to celebrate these glorious days of fun.
In all the churches (at least the catholic ones) have a special, almost Easter Sunday like ambiance, in its length and power of the orator which moves you emotionally almost phisically in its way.
Depending on the town u can expect from theatrics ,to fireworks, to traditional bands using medeval instruments in all alot of fun for all the family and worth having a look at.
