Learning about Reus Part 1

This new series will replace the festival series because we have noticed that its the the least viewed series we have at the moment so on mondays we are going to learn more about Reus a little gem of a city 10 mins from Salou.

History

this town was properly founded in the begining of the 12th century by a man called Robert Curry a french man going south to repopulate the region and to survive the plague that was spreading the continent at the time.

In the early 14th century reus amonsgst other town of the regions who at the time were under the yoke of tarragona revolted when they where demanded to rebuild the walls of Tarragona and they suceeded agaisnt them.

As expected the Tarragonians were upset at this and requested the help of the king which didnt help as he gave even more power to the population of Reus. Even let them have a market day which at the time was a massive thing and still continues to this day.

At the beginning of the 15th century the town expanded massivly thanks to the tourist trade and had to build a expention to the city walls to hold all these people but it will ultimatly end with war ...
