The American Spanish war

Hello dear readers,

Today subject is the American Spanish war that lost Spain there territories in the pacific and the Philippines a war that started because of the Americans help in the liberation of Cuba.

but before my Spanish fans rip me to shreds there has been civil unrest in Cuba for a long time. But the american business community ,who have just recovered from a financial depression, lobbied furiously against it which was a shame.

At this time the american army and navy was small for a landmass its size but with help from the Cuban rebels they managed to win the day.

But more Spaniards was killed by disease several times over than was killed by american lead. all in all the Spanish lost a lot of naval power and the money those islands provided. thanks to the 1899 treaty of Paris which enabled the states to have ownership of these territories which was the last remnants of the Spanish empire which shocked the Spanish people to there core.

But it also created the generation of the 98 one of the greatest generations of poets and philosophic thinkers Spain has ever produced in my humble opion.
