New Series MOTOR MONDAY Season 1 A

Hello ladies and gents this fine monday we are starting a new series called Motor Monday where we choose a car brand and say a little about the history and about bits and peices about there best cars. This week we are discovering a little bit about

Aston Martin

As seen above you can see the evolution of the Aston Martin brand and you can see how the styles have changed in the last 97 years. When i think of Aston Martin i think of a plucky little English sports car maker who thanks to a certain film franchise is known outside the English Luxury Elite. When ever i have seen on Top Gear (aka the Clarkson era . The new guy is too friendly) they have always have been looking forward to trying them out and letting the Stig use it too the limit.

Lets learn a little about the history of this great brand.  Aston Martin Lagonda Limited is a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars and grand tourers. It was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. Steered from 1947 by David Brown, it became associated with expensive grand touring cars in the 1950s and 1960s Their sports cars are regarded as a British cultural icon. Aston Martin has held a Royal Warrant as purveyor of motorcars to HRH the Prince of Wales since 1982. It has over 150 car dealerships in over 50 countries on 6 continents making them a global automobile brand.

Their headquarters and the main production site are in Gaydon, Warwickshire, England, alongside one of Jaguar Land Rover's development centres on the site of a former RAF V Bomber airbase. One of Aston Martin's recent cars was named after the 1950s Vulcan Bomber. Aston Martin has exploited its branding for projects including speed boats, submarines, bicycles, clothing and real estate development.

We have chosen the DB5 as our favourite Model

The Aston Martin DB5 is a British luxury grand tourer (GT) that was made by Aston Martin and designed by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. Released in 1963, it was an evolution of the final series of DB4. The DB series was named honouring Sir David Brown (the owner of Aston Martin from 1947 to 1972).

Although not the first in the DB series, the DB5 is famous for being the most recognised cinematic James Bond car, first appearing in the James Bond film Goldfinger (1964)
