MOTORBIKE MONDAY VOL1

Hello ladies and gents i have recieved several emails to do with having a series on motorbikes so this is Motorbike Monday and today we are going to talk about a little Motorbike Company you may have heard of called.

Harley-Davidson

Harley-Davidson, Inc. (H-D), or Harley, is an American motorcycle manufacturer, founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1903.

One of two major American motorcycle manufacturers to survive the Great Depression (along with Indian),[2] the company has survived numerous ownership arrangements, subsidiary arrangements (e.g., Aermacchi 1974-1978 and Buell 1987-2009), periods of poor economic health and product quality, as well as intense global competition, to become one of the world's largest motorcycle manufacturers and an iconic brand widely known for its loyal following. There are owner clubs and events worldwide as well as a company-sponsored brand-focused museum.

Noted for a style of customization that gave rise to the chopper motorcycle style, Harley-Davidson traditionally marketed heavyweight, air-cooled cruiser motorcycles with engine displacements greater than 700 cm³ and has broadened its offerings to include its more contemporary VRSC (2002) and middle-weight Street (2015) platforms.

Harley-Davidson manufactures its motorcycles at factories in York, Pennsylvania; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Kansas City, Missouri; Manaus, Brazil; and Bawal, India, and markets its products worldwide.

Besides motorcycles, the company licenses and markets merchandise under the Harley-Davidson brand, among them apparel, home decor and ornaments, accessories, toys, and scale figures of its motorcycles, and video games based on its motorcycle line and the community.

What can i say i thought i should start with what in my opinion is the best Motorcycle company of them all i am a fan of the Harley because they are a symbol for freedom and yes you americans seem to have the market cornered on that (Rerember i am English) When you think of a harley you think of beautiful bikes that even stood still look like they are going a 100Mph. When i die i want it to turn up in hell (if there is one) sliding sideways in with a sawn-off shotgun and beat the devil at dominos anyway lets see what according to our experts is the best Harley of all time.

Harley-Davidson 1941 Knucklehead

I choose this great bike because of the revolucionary engine .The knucklehead is a retronym used by enthusiasts to refer to a Harley-Davidson motorcycle engine, so named because of the distinct shape of the rocker boxes. The engine is a two-cylinder, 45 degree, pushrod actuated overhead valve V-twin engine with two valves per cylinder. It was the third basic type of V-Twin engine used by Harley-Davidson, replacing the Flathead-engined VL model in 1936 as HD's top-of-the-line model. The engine was manufactured until 1947 and was replaced by the Panhead engine in 1948. The Knucklehead-engined models were originally referred to as "OHVs" by enthusiasts of the time and in Harley's official literature; the nickname arose from the California chopper culture of the late 1960s.

I hope you enjoy this new series and as always have a chilled day from the Viking.
