CHAPTER 5

DAY 5

He awoke in twilight and retraced his steps to his gear and started back towards the plume of smoke that is still billowing across the desert as he got closer he reached a canyon that looked like paradise as he rushed through towards his target in the distance he saw a small camp ablaze in front of him so he slowed down mainly to loot but he partly because his heart would have told him to. As he approached he pulled a weapon he doesnt usually use which is a small crossbow with the ability to shoot 3 arrows at 10 degree difference to each other so not only could you kill one guy but also his 2 friends he acquired it as a present from his brother Tobart who is a travelling salseman in one of the few flying blimps that still exist. He loaded it quickly with the small but powerful darts that fit into his many pocketed jacket he wore. He shouted in the 3 main tongues of the region and got no response except a few vulture cries in the distance. He aproached the first hut expecting to see corpses but he saw a little girl curled up asleep while the camp burned so he groaned and heard the little voice tell him to rescue her so he work the girl up softly and said: Little girl where is everyone? To which the girl ran to his greaved and held on while crying they are all gone please let me come with you. He had no choice but to agree and told the girl to pack her belongings. She asked his name but he merely grunted as she told her name which was Rebecca but in her chipper voice she said call me Becky. When she came back she had a knife strapped to her waist and said solomnly it was my fathers id like to bring it. So i said you may but its not a toy you must be deadly careful with it. She nodded and followed our hero holding onto his hand as he loaded her into the sidecart of the bike and told her not to touch the cannon that was installed there. At that moment they heard a ear shattering cry as a massive metallic beast that was diving at great speed towards them with breath of fire. Our hero floored it racing rapidly away from it going deeper into the canyon towards a cave with this metal phoenix chasing them and slowly but surely gaining on them till they reached a corner to which our hero turned noticed a precarious rock topping the canyon and threw a hatchet he aquired from the trackers at it and it dislodged the rock just enough for it to fall and hit the bird and crushed it beneath it all you could see was a flaming rock as they went into the caves ahead.
