This is a great game. Just don't buy it and expect Dark Souls 4. This is its own game with its own quirks that you need to learn and adapt to. Most of the people giving this game negative reviews only have about 2-3 hours in it. Granted I was already loving the game by the 3 hour mark, but I have found most of the common complaints with this game to be unfounded. Let's take a look at some of those:

1. It takes too long to reload and heal.
- There are skills to reduce your reload and heal time.

2. You run out of ammo too fast.
- If you legitimately run out of ammo too fast then you are either using too weak of a weapon, are missing a ton, or never finish people with melee. You can always upgrade your weapon to increase its ammo capacity, and even find armor upgrade shrines that will eventually increase your overall ammo capacity.

3. Melee sucks.
- Melee builds can apparently work, but only once you've gotten a good weapon for it and skilled towards it. You can't start off with melee. It's typically going to be used to finish off weak enemies so you can save some ammunition. It does have other uses, however. You can break deployed shields with it and it has a special function against bosses. If you stagger a boss normally, they will flail a little and recover fairly quickly. However, if you stagger a boss with a melee attack then you'll knock them over and leave them vulnerable longer.

4. X gun type is bad.
- Some are, unfortunately. Hopefully the devs will balance things like SMGs and assault rifles as they currently do too little damage. For the people complaining about snipers, though? Their aim just blows. Snipers can one shot even some big enemies and chunk bosses like crazy if you headshot them. Maybe don't start with them if you don't want to shuffle between your sniper and pistol (snipers have low ammo count because of their super high damage), but when you unlock a third weapon slot they are amazing. If you find yourself struggling to find a good weapon, the primary slot shotguns work very well.

5. Getting hit or rolling cancels your reload.
- Yeah it does. It's not bad design, it's made to force you away from the offensive for a time. Most enemies are melee in this game, and the ranged ones tend to be quick to kill. They need to balance out your firepower and force you to find a good window of opportunity to reload, especially in boss fights. If you think it takes too long to reload? Once again, there is a skill to reduce your reload times.

This really is a great game. The devs did very well and I hope more people actually give it a chance and try to learn the game rather than bash it for doing things differently from Dark Souls. The game looks great, locations are incredibly different from one another, gunplay works very well and its got some nuances to it that really surprised me. I can't really recommend this game enough.

I hoped you liked this post and as always have a chilled day from the Viking.
