Motor Monday

Hello ladies and gents this week we are going to the great land of the rising sun aka Japan because we are talking about

Suzuki

Suzuki Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational corporation headquartered in Minami-ku, Hamamatsu, that manufactures automobiles, four-wheel drive vehicles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), outboard marine engines, wheelchairs and a variety of other small internal combustion engines. In 2014, Suzuki was the ninth biggest automaker by production worldwide. Suzuki has over 45,000 employees and has 35 production facilities in 23 countries, and 133 distributors in 192 countries. The worldwide sales volume of automobiles is the world's tenth largest, while domestic sales volume is the third largest in the country.

In 1909, Michio Suzuki (1887–1982) founded the Suzuki Loom Works in the small seacoast village of Hamamatsu, Japan. Business boomed as Suzuki built weaving looms for Japan's giant silk industry. In 1929, Michio Suzuki invented a new type of weaving machine, which was exported overseas. The company's first 30 years focused on the development and production of these machines.

Despite the success of his looms, Suzuki believed that his company would benefit from diversification and he began to look at other products. Based on consumer demand, he decided that building a small car would be the most practical new venture. The project began in 1937, and within two years Suzuki had completed several compact prototype cars. These first Suzuki motor vehicles were powered by a then-innovative, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, four-cylinder engine. It had a cast aluminum crankcase and gearbox and generated 13 horsepower (9.7 kW) from a displacement of less than 800cc.

2007 Suzuki XL7 Pikes Peak

The XL7 is Suzuki’s new flag ship in U.S.A. A V6 VVT(Variable Valve Timing) 3.6 liter engine has been up suited with twin turbo charger, which is now producing 1007ps and 102kg-m. To get a grip on the road, aerodynamics has been refined and now it has increased the downforce of more than 35% compare to 2006 model. Falken has once again made the tyres for this machine. Everything is ready for to break the record.

Nobuhiro Tajima, the president of Susuki Sport won the 85th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in ten minutes and one seconds, breaking the record previously held by Rod Milen for thirteen years.

I hoped you liked this post and as always have a chilled day from the viking.
