Kyoto , is the capital city of Kyoto Prefecture, located in the Kansai region of Japan. It is best known in Japanese history for being the former Imperial capital of Japan for more than one thousand years, as well as a major part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area
In Japanese, Kyoto was previously called Kyō (京), Miyako (都), or Kyō no Miyako (京の都). In the 11th century, the city was renamed Kyoto ("capital city"), from the Chinese calligraphic, jingdu (京都).After the city of Edo was renamed Tokyo (東京, meaning "Eastern Capital") in 1868, and the seat of the Emperor was moved there, Kyoto was for a short time known as Saikyō (西京, meaning "Western Capital"). Kyoto is also sometimes called the thousand-year capital (千年の都).

Kifune Shrine (貴船神社) has been a popular photo-worthy spots in Kyoto, and it’s known for divine favour for love knots and a popular place for wedding.
Yasaka Pagoda
Every great city has an iconic river within, don’t you agree?? Kamogawa River or Kamo River (鴨川) is an symbolic river run through the city of Kyoto, and a popular landmark itself. The riverbank of Kamogawa River is a great spot to walk down and it’s lined by numbers of cafes and restaurants. During summer, they extend their outside terrace towards the river, and make a larger seating space by the river so the guests can feel the breeze in hot weather. This is called Kawadoko, and it’s one of the traditions in Kyoto area. Enjoy the delicious and authentic Kyoto cuisine with the pleasant view of Kamo River only in summer time!
