STAR WARS

Hello ladies and gents this is the viking telling you that today we are talking about

MUSTAFAR

Mustafar - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki en 2020
Mustafar was a small lava world located in the Outer Rim Territories, and the planet contained valuable mineral allotropes. There was also a fortress of the infamous Black Sun during the Clone Wars. Historically, Mustafar was once a lush planet thriving with life. After the Bright Star's destruction, the planet was allowed to regrow.

The planet was situated between the two gas giants Lefrani and Jestefad. The two giants were in a tug-of-gravity with both trying to claim tiny Mustafar as a moon by pulling the planet towards them. Mustafar owed its hellish volcanic landscape to this battle as it caused massive tidal disruption that heated the planet's interior.

In addition, Jestefad's gigantic electromagnetic field swamped Mustafar, which generated huge electrical storms on the planet, posing a significant risk for off-world arrivals. Those caught in one such storm without the assistance of surface-level tractor beams found, at best, their starship's navigational equipment interfered with, and in certain cases torn apart, as Mustafar was by Lefrani and Jestefad.

While still very hot, the lava on Mustafar was of a lower temperature than that found on other worlds, due to unusual mineral allotropes that were molten at lower temperatures. The lava's great wealth in minerals were exploited by mining operations, attracting business interests into the otherwise untouched world.

The core of Mustafar housed a locus of the dark side of the Force, which Darth Vader used to his advantage when bleeding the kyber crystal for his new lightsaber.

Pre-Clone Wars

Mustafar was once a lush and forested planet thriving with life. At some point, Corvax and her husband lived in harmony on Mustafar with the native Mustafarians. Later, Mustafar came under attack and Corvax's husband died. Corvax was struck with grief and she stole the most sacred artifact, the Bright Star, which belonged to the Mustafarians. Thought to have the power to resurrect Corvax's love, the energies ruptured from the Bright Star devastated Mustafar by pushing the planet into a new orbit. The planet then became a volcanic wasteland[9] as the gas giants Lefrani and Jestefad both pulled on tiny Mustafar, heating its interior in their attempts to claim Mustafar as their moon.[8] These events passed into legend, attracting Sith who were looking for the secrets of eternal life. Eventually, a Sith shrine was built on the world.

Over three hundred years before the end of the Clone Wars, the Techno Union came to own the planet and charged the native Mustafarians rent. The Union provided the Mustafarians with tools to mine mineral allotropes for them, labor which served to pay their rent. Mustafarian miners, helped by Techno Union technology like droids, rode repulsorlift-powered platforms to collect mineral-rich lava spurning from Mustafar's heated interior. Over the centuries, however, Mustafarians became cautious of technology that had a melting point due to witnessing mechanical breakdowns.

Clone Wars

In the era of the Clone Wars, the planet bore witness in a plot to kidnap Force-sensitive children during the Clone Wars by bounty hunter Cad Bane, who deposited the children at a facility there for a Sith plan to create an army of Force spies. However, the children were rescued by Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, and the facility was destroyed, along with any evidence of who was behind the plot.

The Black Sun fortress

During this period, the Black Sun criminal organization, under Xomit Grunseit, was headquartered on the world. In 19 BBY, Darth Maul, his brother Savage Opress, and Pre Vizsla, the leader of the terrorist organization Death Watch, traveled to the Black Sun fortress with the intention of recruiting them into their criminal empire, the Shadow Collective. Ziton Moj greeted them upon their arrival, and led them to the Black Sun's leaders. After negotiations with the leaders went sour, Savage beheaded all of them with his lightsaber. Moj became the new leader of the Black Sun, and joined with Death Watch, providing them with weapons, troops, and supplies. The Black Sun moved off of Mustafar to a "lower profile world" after the rise of the Empire.

At the war's end, Darth Sidious ordered General Grievous to send the Separatist leaders to a mining complex on Mustafar for their protection, but in reality to gather them together so that Skywalker, newly anointed as Darth Vader, Sidious' new apprentice, could kill them all, and deactivate the droid armies, bringing an end to the war.
