Hello ladies and gents this is the Viking telling you that today we are talking about
Top 10 Rare Things More Likely to Happen Than Winning the Lottery
Everyone’s heard of the lottery. Everyone hopes to someday be lucky enough to have the winning ticket. But it’s really rare the Mega Millions is 1 in 302.6 million odds and the Powerball is 1 in 292.2 million. Either way it’s extremely rare. There are some strange or interesting things that are surprisingly more likely.
1.Become President of the U.S. (1 in 100 million)
Yeahh well, I wasn't born in nor have I ever lived in the United States so maybe winning the lottery is more realistic for me. Fingers crossed. Although I don't know cos I've never even bought a lottery ticket lol.
If you’ve ever wanted to live in the White House technically you have a 1 in 100 million chance at becoming the next President of the US assuming you meet the requirements to be eligible for the running. That includes being old enough and a being a US citizen. Your odds are even better if you’re a politician, male, between the age of 40-72 and over 6 ft tall.
2.Get Struck By Lightning (1 in 12,000)
Interesting this is the only negative thing on the list. I have also heard you are more likely to in some way die on your way to buying a lottery ticket than to win the lottery.
You're more likely to get struck by lightning TWICE than win the lottery.Usually when you get struck once, you're going to get struck again.
If you’re ever caught out in a thunderstorm beware that while it’s usually uncommon to get hit by lightning you have a 1 in 12,000 chance of being struck by lightning in your lifetime
3.Win an Olympic Gold Medal (1 in 662,000)
The Olympics are held traditionally every 4 years with both Summer and Winter variants. Winning a gold medal is no easy accomplishment but you right now have a better shot than dating a supermodel. Your odds might be better if you have experience and have been training for a long time.
Man 1 in 662? I'm going to train for the Olympics.
4.Be Accepted into Harvard University (1 in 20)
I didn't get accepted into my local community college, but don't worry I'll get into Harvard!
Harvard may be the most prestigious college in America however it’s notoriously tough to get accepted. For the class of 2021 Harvard received 39,506 applications and admitted 2,037, resulting in an acceptance rate of about 5.2%. That is assuming you are an above average student who is dedicated to their academic career.
It depends on how good your GPA is, your SAT/ACT score, how well you compare to the other students in your class, how much money you have, and whether or not you're related to a politician. For most people, the odds of getting accepted are more like 1 in 100000.
Havard is full of a bunch of egotistical losers.
5.Date a Supermodel (1 in 880,000)
Seems crazy to think about but yes you’re more likely to date an attractive Super Model than win the lottery. Unfortunately guys the odds of dating someone considered that good looking is still pretty low
I don't even think I want to date a supermodel.
How is this defined though I didn’t think there was any official distinction of some models being “super”.
6.Hit a Hole in One in Golf (1 in 12,000)
Oh yeah this is hard, you have to be very lucky or superhuman to do this. I have known lots of people who have played golf a long time and none of them have never hit a hole in one in their lives.
Even if you’re Tiger Woods hitting a hole in one is quite rare however even an average golfer has a 1 in 12,000 chance which is better than you’d expect. Look at it this way say you play an 18 hole round once a week that’s 936 holes of golf meaning once in 13 years you’ll get lucky enough to sink it first try
7.Bowl a Perfect Game (1 in 11,500)
While Bowling is a fun recreational sport Bowling a complete perfect game is rare. Getting 12 strikes in a row is virtually unthinkable but the average bowler has a 1 in 11,500 chance. Professional Bowlers have significantly better odds at 1 in 460
I've come close.
8.Be Dealt a Royal Flush in Poker (1 in 649,739)
Poker is a game where you try to get as close to 21 as possible. Usually there’s a lot of gambling going on it’s not rare to get a pair but getting a full house is rare and a Royal Flush (Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10) on the opening hand in the same suit. Is incredibly rare.
9.Make it to the NBA (1 in 11,771)
While most kids dream of going to the pros it’s realistically not going to happen. If you’re a high school player your odds of making it are 1 in 11,771. It’s a competitive game and even getting to D1 college like Duke, Kansas Kentucky or North Carolina is hard. For girls it’s even tougher at 1 in 13,015 odds.
10.Win an Oscar Award (1 in 11,500)
If you have never been involved with the development of a movie then probably not but if you are an average person you have an estimated 1 in 11,500 chance of winning one of the 24 Oscar Awards given out every year. Therefore acting lessons may pay off more in the long run than a lottery ticket
And as always have a chilled day from the Viking
