In 1918, the country existed after the end of the First World War. The Yugoslav royal dynasty was originated from Serbian royal House of Karađorđević. On July 13th, 1922, the international recognition was obtained by Yugoslavia in Paris at Conference of Ambassadors. Yugoslavia Facts 1: The Name Of The Country

The name of the country is taken from the name of South Slavic people. For the rest of the history, their territory was under the control of Austrian-Hungary and Ottoman Empire.


Yugoslavia Facts 2: kingdom of Yugoslavia

On October 3, 1929, it was named into Kingdom of Yugoslavia.


Yugoslavia Facts 3: Invasion

On April 6th, 1941, the Axis power invaded Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The partisan resistance proclaimed a Democratic Federal Yugoslavia in 1943. It was recognized as a legitimate government by the king. The monarchy was abolished in November 1945.

In 1946, the country earned another name. It was called the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia. The territories included in Yugoslavia were Zadar, Rijeka and Istria.


Yugoslavia Facts 5: The President

Yugoslavia was ruled under the presidency of Josip Broz Titi until his death in 1980. He was also known as a partisan leader.
