How to Make the Perfect BLT

BLT sandwich cut in half with a stick

  • This BLT recipe is quick, easy and full of flavour. Add avocado or egg for a fun twist!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread your favorite variety
  • 6 slices thick cut bacon
  • 2 tomatoes large, ripe
  • 4 leaves lettuce iceberg, bibb or romaine
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • salt & pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash lettuce, dry and cut into thin shreds. Slice tomatoes into thick slices.
  2. Cook bacon until crisp, drain on paper towel and set aside.
  3. Toast bread until lightly browned, butter if desired and set aside.
  4. Spread each slice of bread with 1 tablespoon mayonnaise.
  5. Top with bacon, tomatoes and lettuce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Cut in half and serve.

Recipe Notes

  • To cook bacon in the oven, preheat oven to 400°F. Place a rack on a rimmed baking sheet. Put bacon the rack and bake 18-20 minutes or until crisp.
