VERY INTERESTING: MARSHALL SPEAKERS

Hello ladies and gents this is the Viking telling you today we are talking about

5 Interesting Facts About Marshall Amplification

1. The first Marshall Amplifiers, the famous JTM 45 model, evolved from the 5F6A Fender Bassman.

For all of its differences when compared with the Bassman, the sound of the JTM45 is still described as "like a tweed Fender".

2. The first Marshalls amp JTM45 was named after Jim and his son Terry Marshall. 45 indicated its power.

3. Jim Marshall came up with the first ever 4x12” speaker cabinet.

Marshall went to another level in 1965 when Pete Townshend demanded his sound to be louder. Jim’s solution was the 100 watt Marshall amplifier, the Super 100 head and, the Marshall 8x12” speaker cabinet. This was too bulky to transport so was replaced by two stacked 4x12” giving rise to the iconic Marshall Stack.

4. Jim Marshall was a drummer and a drum teacher.

He used his earnings to set up a music shop in west London in 1960. Among his customers were the likes of Ritchie Blackmore and Pete Townshend, and it was through talking to them that Marshall realised there was a gap in the market for a guitar amplifier cheaper than the American-made models popular at the time.

5. Jimi Hendrix (full name James Marshall Hendrix) became interested in Marshall Amplifiers because he was told that its creator’s name is Jim Marshall.

Jimi began performing with Fender Twin Reverb amplifiers but became interested in Marshall amplifiers after arriving in England and seeing many groups using them. Jimi was introduced to Jim Marshall through his drummer Mitch Mitchell who used to receive drum lessons from him. After that Jimi began using 100 Watt Marshall Super Lead amplifiers.

And as always have a chilled day from the Viking
