VERY INTERESTING: GIGANTOSAURUS

Hello this Dino Lou telling you that today we are talking about

THE GIGANOTOSAURUS

The Giganotosaurus weighed about 17,600 pounds, stood 20 feet high, and was about 45 feet long.

Though in the famous franchise Jurassic World the Giganotosaurus towered over the Tyrannosaurus Rex they were in fact near the same size. The only differences were the Giganotosaurus was longer, but the T-Rex still has the biggest bite force.

The giant predator was initially spotted in 1993 by amateur fossil collector Rubén D. Carolini from a tibia jutting out of the stone in the Neuquén province of Patagonia in Argentina. So though huge it still classed as a newer dinosaur compared to many others.

It lived in what is now Argentina, during the early Cenomanian age of the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 99.6 to 95 million years ago. This meant T-Rex never met this giant.

Its main prey would have been a giant sauropod called Argentinosaurus. This was a MASSIVE herbivore but one of these even as a youngster would have kept this beast fed for a long time.

How did they die out? Well, many know the biggest of all mass extinction that wiped all the dinosaurs off the face of the earth but there was another. In the Cretaceous-Tertiary mass extinction event. This event was caused by a comet or asteroid that hit the earth, causing widespread destruction, and killing off many species of animals.

This was 30 million years before the T-Rex who did witness the Gulf of Mexico giant wipe out and as always have a chilled day from the Viking
