LOUS CORNER: MINECRAFT

Hello ladies and gents this is Lou telling you that today we are talking about

MINECRAFT

Minecraft is one of the world's leading popular games that started way back in 2011 created by Markus "Notch" Persson in the Java programming language.

The basic block design the player can build, explore the wide sandbox maps and even have to fight off enemies known as mobs. It was first made public in May 2009 before being fully released in November 2011, with Notch stepping down and Jens "Jeb" Bergensten taking over development.

It hold the Guinness world record for the best selling video game in history with over 238 million copies sold and nearly 140 million monthly active players as of 2021!

On 15 September 2014, Microsoft announced a $2.5 billion deal to buy Mojang, along with the ownership of the Minecraft intellectual property.

The deal was struck and signed on 6 November 2014 and led to Persson becoming one of Forbes' "World's Billionaires".

However shortly after Persson admitted he regretted the deal as he then saw how Microsoft made the game EXPLODE not only with advertising and marketing but with amazing updates one after the other being more and more fan of all ages to the game!

Now the game is not just used for playing rounds but for even architectural creations! The government of South Australia had launched a competition asking students from primary schools to create their perfect national park using the popular game or to suggest changes to an existing state park.

Other countries have done similar things too as the game provides uses to bring out amazing designs or even recreate life-size structures from the Eiffel Tower to the Great Wall of China!

Microsoft made many versions from Pocket versions to be played on tablets and phones. An educational platform for schools where students must use math to help with problem-solving!

The game is on every way of playing it! But if you’re not a fan of all the updates then don’t threat! They have the simple classic version available too! It is the Lego you don’t need to clean up and can’t stand on!
