LOUS CORNER

Hello this is Lou and today we are talking about

OZZY OSBOURN

The great prince of darkness is what most people know Ozzy Osbourn as a songwriter, tv personality and producer icon of today's world but many don’t know he was the person who gave birth the heavy metal and the inventor of the genre of this style of music back in the 1970s with his bad Black Sabbath!

Born and raised in Birmingham England 1948 in the era of coal mines, the steel and iron industry highest peak in the country. John Micheal Osbourn was born in a small house and watched the world around him being covered in soot, oil, and cloud filled with dark smog from the factories. The country was in a dark depression and riots across the country against race, fascists and neon/anti-nazi supporters took grip of the radio, newspapers and tv. People started to believe that Horror movies were encouraging people into cults. Ozzy was raised in a very very dark side of Britain then.

With this Ozzy in 1968 created and became the lead vocalist for the band Black Sabbath. They however were like no other making their first single  “Never say die!” in 1970 which started the growth of the music style Heavy Metal! They became instant hits with songs like Paranoid, masters of reality and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

However, wealth came and wealth took the Prince of Darkness down a nasty path of drug addiction and alcohol that eventually the band voted and kicked him out in 1979, so Ozzy went to go and focus on his solo career and with that became a great star!

Releasing 13 studio albums, first seven of which received multi-platinum certifications in the US. He then reunited with the band in 1997 in which they made an album called 13 in 2013 before going on a farewell tour across the world ending back in their hometown Birmingham and is known as the “Godfather to heavy metal”

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath and into the UK Music Hall of Fame as a solo artist. He has been honoured with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Birmingham Walk of Stars. At the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards, he received the Global Icon Award.

In 2015, Osbourne received the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. To this day he is still seen as the inventor and Godfather to heavy metal! And many still admire his work and music!

And as always have a chilled day from the Viking
