TIME PIECES

Hello ladies and gents this is the Viking telling you that today we are talking about

Nacar

Ok, this one is for all the watch experts out there! My latest purchase is a Nacar from their NC35 series. If you are an expert and have have no idea about Nacar, don’t get confused. Even the biggest watch nerd may have not heard about them. Let’s start with some facts on their history:

NACAR watches started to be manufactured in 1929 in Switzerland by ZILA WATCH CO. watch factory, which was established in 1924 in La Heutte. NACAR watches entered the Turkish market in 1942 by the enterprise of Kevork and Ohannes brothers. 1957 the company celebrated its 40. anniversary. 1960 the businessman Amand Hissarli took over most of the company shares and became the executive chairman of the board. Due to Amands Turkish roots, he exported the watches to Turkey and into the Middle East region. The watches were Swiss Made with Swiss calibers from manufacturers like FHG, AS, Unitas or Felsa.

The company Konyalı bought all global rights of NACAR in 1998 and undertook its global distributorship. With its almost 400 dealer spread throughout all regions of Turkey until today.

You may be surprised about the missing Swiss Made label on my watch. This is indeed due to the variety of Nacar watches today, starting from very affordable Quartz versions - like mine, to an exclusive range of automatic versions with Swiss Made movements. Not sure about where they get their movements from, but I assume it is ETA or Sellita. If you have any idea, feel free to post in the comment section.

And as always have a chilled day from the Viking
