Hello ladies and gents thi sis the Viking telling you that today we are talking about
Bodies, Steven Graham's ambitious Netflix series, attempts to solve the same murder 4 times
It's based on the graphic novel of the same name by Si Spencer
Ever feel like crime dramas are just telling the same story over and over again? Well, a new show starring Stephen Graham will do just that by design.
He's starring in Bodies, a new Netflix crime thriller about the same murder happening multiple times over the course of 150 years, which is based on the 2015 graphic novel of the same name by Si Spencer.
Here's everything we know about the series so far.
Is there a trailer for Bodies?
As we close in on the rest of the year, Netflix has offered up its first teaser of Bodies.
Like its ambitious premise details, the short look at the series jumps between time zones as multiple police forces and detectives scramble to solve the murder of a man who keeps getting murdered across history. Here's your first look.
What is Bodies about?
The plot of Bodies is a unique one, linking four detectives spanning 150 years together to solve the same murder case. Now, this isn't a cold case that's been sitting unsolved for over a century. No, it's the same person being killed for times.
In the 1890s, against the backdrop of Jack the Ripper in London, detective Edmond Hillinghead stumbles across a murder that no one cares to solve but proves to be bigger than he could have imagined. Then, in the 1940s, an adventurer called Charles Whiteman comes across a similar grisly scene amidst the Blitz wreckage in London. In the 2010s, a female detective name Sahara Hasan encounters an unidentified body and, in 2050, from a post-apocalyptic world, Maplewood finds a ritualistic slaying and seeks to shed light on the century-long conspiracy.
Who is in Bodies?
Stephen Graham is leading the cast, though not much is known about the character he's playing, Elias Mannix, other than that he's central to the plot.
As for the various detectives, Shira Haas, from Netflix's Unorthodox, will play future cop Maplewood, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, from The Queen's Gambit, will play DS Whiteman, Amaka Okafor, from The Sandman, is taking on the role of DS Hasan and Kyle Soller, known predominantly for his theatre roles, will star as DI Hillinghead. It's an (almost) entirely Netflix family affair.
The cast is also rounded out by Tom Mothersdale, Michael Jibson, Derek Riddel, Emily Barber and Gabriel Howell, playing a younger version of Stephen Graham.
The series is being produced by the same team as Peaky Blinders, reuniting with Graham, who played Hayden Stagg in the crime drama. The show is also penned by Paul Tomalin, who wrote No Offence and Torchwood.
When will Bodies be released?
With its first trailer, Netflix also revealed that we won't have to wait long to finally see Bodies. The twisty-turny series will drop on 19 October.
And as always have a chilled day from the Viking
